HISTORY
St. Peters Bay Craft & Giftware came into existence in 2000 as a combination of the purchase of 2 defunct companies from various lending and legal agencies. In the fall of 2000, St Peters Bay Craft & Giftware moved to its present location, a relitively new building (the new/old co-op store) in St. Peters Bay, P.E.I.  In 2001, the property which included the main building (5,000sq feet) as well as 2500sq feet of rental addition, was purchased from the local development group.

In the 1st full year, 2001, St. Peters Bay concentrated on the redesign, manufacture and wholesale distribution of pewter jewelry to the maritime marketplace. A 500 square foot showroom/giftshop was added at the front of the building with an eye to the tourist traveler and a new line of custom products was formed..

In 2002, further ventures into the Canadian wholesale market with shows in Halifax and Toronto and visits to the Atlantic Tradewinds Showroom in Bedford, Mass resulted in
wholesales sales to increase. However, in became clear that for to obtain financial success, the focus should be on the retail tourist market on P.E.I. while maintaining a regional wholesale presence.  In the spring, an interactive tour of the property was developed concintrating on the production and finish of our popular jewelry product. This proved successful and retail sales increased.

In 2003, retail sales remained strong with the introduction of a line of personalized golf markers as well as increased visitation of the tourist traveler due mainly to increased advertisement. We also increased sales by purchasing the local bike rental business and including it in our shop attraction.  Wholesale sales remained strong as did custom sales with the production of 1200 medals specially designed for the 2004 Winter Special Olympics.

In 2004, our gift shop was increased to 1,000 square feet, a new central cash counter was constructed, and 4 new jewelry displays as well as 2 new tour work stations were added.  The gardens surrounding the property were improved/expanded, a new flag display for the roof was purchased as well as a new 3D Sign for the building was installed. However, retail and wholesale sales declined slightly, due mainly to the decline in tourism traffic throughout the maritime region, however, because of our success with the Special Olympic Medals, we were contracted to produce the medals for the new  Marathon held in October of 2004.
